Have you ever been in the market for a new laptop but been overwhelmed by the variety of options available? With technical advancements at an all-time high, the latest computer innovation is a 2-in-1 laptop. Finding the best 2-in-1 laptops under $1000 can be a difficult and time-consuming task, but we’ve done the research for you and hand-picked the best options.
What Is A 2-In-1 Laptop?
A 2-in-1 laptop is one of the most powerful and flexible laptops available. Everyone seems to be making one these days, but if you choose the wrong one, you could end up paying hundreds of dollars more for features that barely work or break easily (Learn more).
To help you get the most out of your money, we’ve compiled a list of the top 6 budget 2-in-1 laptops for 2022.
- Acer Spin 5
- HP Pavilion x360 14 (Editor’s Choice)
- Dell Inspiron 7000 2 in 1
- Lenovo Yoga 7i
- Lenovo Flex 5
- Microsoft Surface Pro 8
But before moving forward to the devices, it is important to mention what to expect from a 2-in-1 laptop that is available for under $1000.
What Can We Expect from a 2 in 1 Laptop at this Price tag?
You can expect a quad-core Intel i5 CPU with 4 cores and 8 threads for excellent processing performance at the $1000 price bracket.
RAM should be anywhere between 12GB and 32GB of quick DDR4, thus far exceeding our minimum recommendation of 8GB. All of our picks include at least a 256GB SSD, with the majority including a 1TB NVMe drive for lightning-fast performance.
Instead of a discrete GPU, most 2 in 1s use an integrated graphics chip. While Intel’s Quick Sync encoder allows for high rendering and editing performance, however, the gaming performance might be on the lower side.
The typical battery life for laptops in this price range is roughly 7 hours, giving you adequate time to complete your daily activities. The majority of the displays are 1366×768 HD or 1920×1080 Full HD, with a handful featuring color-accurate IPS panels.
6 Best 2-in-1 Laptops Under $1000 in 2022
Keeping these features in mind, we’ve chosen the six best 2-in-1 laptops under $1,000 that have high-end technology for a great experience in both gaming and productivity workloads while maintaining the mobility and convenience of a tablet.
1) Acer Spin 5:
- 10th Generation Intel Core i7-1065G7 Processor (Up to 3. 9GHz) 16GB LPDDR4X...
- 13.5" Acer VertiView 2K 2256 x 1504 Widescreen IPS LED-backlit Touch...
- Intel Wireless Wi-Fi 6 AX201 802. 11ax Backlit Keyboard fingerprint reader...
- 2 - USB 3. 1 Type C port supporting USB 3. 1 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps),...
Acer is a brand that has something for all groups of people. Surely Acer Spin 5 is one of the best 2-in-1 convertible laptops in this price range. The closer we looked, the more we agreed with our first impressions. The Spin 5 has a high-resolution screen, which is great for people who like to do things like drawing and editing photos on their laptops. The laptop has a resolution of 2256 x 1504 which is quite impressive in this price range.
If you want to do the math, you’ll notice that its screen has a 3:2 ratio instead of the standard 16:9. So, you’ll have more space to work in when you’re making art, editing photos, browsing the web, and so on.
When it comes to processor power, the Spin 5 is a good choice as well, but it’s not the best. It has a 10th-generation Intel Core i7-1065G7 inside it.
It’s a four-core processor, which will give you the power you need for big tasks and still give you enough space for multitasking. It isn’t the fastest on the market right now, but it should be enough for most people to carry out their daily tasks.
Even though the processor speed is a little slower than it should be, the higher RAM will make up for it. This laptop has 16GB of RAM, which is a lot for a laptop at this price bracket. The hard drive is only 512GB, which isn’t as big as we’d like. But, if you need more storage, you can easily add a second drive. Another thing to keep in mind is that the built-in graphics chip will be able to run most applications. However, it’s not a top choice for those who play a lot of games in their free time.
One thing you’ll love is that there’s a rechargeable Wacom pen that you can use to make your touchscreen work even better. So, things like drawing, editing photos, or even taking notes will be a lot easier with this laptop because you can use a pen to write on the screen.
Another thing that makes the Spin 5 so great is how easy it is to move around. It weighs only 2.6 pounds, It’s also only 0.59 inches thick, which makes it easy to carry around when you’re on the go.
While Acer claims this laptop can run for about 15 hours, most tests show that it lasts for about 9 hours, which is quite enough.
In general, the Acer Spin 5 is a great two-in-one laptop for the money. It’s our top pick for creative professionals who are on a tight budget. The extra resolution, high-quality screen, and great Wacom pen make it great for all kinds of creative work.

HP Pavilion x360 14-inch 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop is one of the best Chromebooks on the market. The laptop shell is entirely made of plastic, with the exception of the hinges. The finish on the top is painted to appear like brushed aluminum. It looks quite realistic while it’s fresh, but I think that when it gets scratched over time, it’ll become very evident that it’s just painted plastic, even from a distance.
The keyboard layout is simple and straightforward. The touchpad is very normal stuff. It’s well-designed enough that I didn’t find myself shifting the mouse pointer while typing. The touchpad is quite useful, however, I still prefer a USB mouse.
The screen is highly glossy, reflecting everything that is even slightly bright from behind you. When you’re working with bright/white content on the screen, such as in a word processor or reading websites, it’s not as obvious, but when you’re viewing movies, the screen’s surface takes on the appearance of a mirror. That didn’t strike me as a good design decision, but perhaps the mirror surface is required because it’s a touch-screen?
Although the edge-lit IPS provides a bright and crisp image, it is not as bright as I would like. Because I don’t have a good way of measuring nits, my assessment of its brightness will be subjective. It’s noticeably darker in summer noontime daylight than other 300 nit screens I’ve tested, though it’s still visible if you keep in the shade, so I’d estimate its brightness to be between 230 and 250 nits. This screen is mostly for indoor use, yet, as previously stated, it is somewhat functional outside on a sunny day if there is adequate shade.
The display’s refresh rate appears to be set at 59Hz. Because it is an IPS screen with quick switching, it easily passed the blur-busters tests – motion blur is virtually non-existent, making it ideal for watching videos.
Even with my large fingers, the capacitive touch screen is highly sensitive and accurate. I don’t have a stylus to test, so I can’t say whether it’s compatible or accurate.
Furthermore, the device is powered by Intel’s Core i5 10th gen processor which offers a decent clock speed. For improved graphics, it is equipped with the integrated Intel UHD GPU.
Many of these 2-in-1 laptops come with a version of Windows 10 called “Windows 10 Home in S Mode.” “S Mode” is a severely constrained version of Windows 10 that only allows you to use the Edge browser and execute apps from the Microsoft App Store.
The possibility to update the primary storage is one of the features I look for in a laptop. In general, if you see “eMMC” in the description, it signifies the primary storage (i.e. hard drive) is soldered in, and replacing it is more effort than it’s worth. I’m delighted to inform you that this laptop features a full M.2 NVMe SSD that can be upgraded to a larger capacity drive if necessary, however, the 512GB drive it comes with is quite big enough for my purposes.
I was able to get roughly 4-5 hours out of a charge when merely browsing the web, viewing the occasional YouTube video, and writing in a word processor. While watching Netflix or other films at full brightness, it lasted only 2.5 to 3 hours. The battery capacity isn’t very spectacular at 3470mAh, but it appears to be plenty for such a light machine.
Overall, this Chromebook is worth a buy.
3) Dell Inspiron 14 7000 (Best Dell 2 in 1 Laptop)
- AMD Ryzen 5 4500U 6-Core Processor 2.3 GHz (4.0 GHz with Boost) / 8GB...
- 14-inch Full HD IPS LED backlight Touch Screen / AMD Radeon integrated...
- Backlit Keyboard / 360-degree flip-and-fold design / Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200...
- Built-in fingerprint reader / 2 USB 3.0 Type A Ports / 1 HDMI Output /...
On our list of the best 2-in-1 laptops under 1000 dollars, this is the third-best laptop. The Dell Inspiron 14 7000 combines excellent specifications with a simple design that is easy to carry around.
The Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 takes an unexpected place in Dell’s laptop lineup. While Dell’s Inspiron line is usually reserved for the company’s cheapest and clumsiest consumer-grade computers, the Inspiron 14 2-in-1 borrows a few features from higher-end laptops, such as a metal lid, a fingerprint reader, surprisingly good speakers, and a sharp touchscreen that flips around into tablet mode.
The Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1’s performance is approximately what you’d expect from a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U processor. It flies through multi-threaded operations like video encoding, and it’s fast enough for online browsing and document editing. While using multiple apps, web tabs, and downloads, the laptop remains cool and quiet.
The productivity of the Inspiron 14 2-in-1 was demonstrated in Futuremark’s PCMark 10 test, which simulates a variety of office work, web surfing, and creative applications. It beat a number of other 2-in-1 laptops we’ve recently evaluated, including the HP Envy x360 15 with the same chip.
The Inspiron 14 2-in-1 is only available in one colour option, “Mist Blue,” which only covers the metal lid and is scarcely recognizable from the grey matte plastic chassis underneath. Despite its plastic construction, this is a sturdy laptop. When you hold the laptop by the corners, you won’t hear a single squeak. The Inspiron 14 2-in-1 has a raised typing surface thanks to a drop hinge.
Furthermore, the 1080p touchscreen features a glossy surface and is edge-to-edge glass, adding to the laptop’s luxury appearance. In a clamshell form, the bottom of the screen drops down below the keyboard area, creating a raised typing surface. The screen can also be rotated 360 degrees to turn the laptop into tablet mode, and it supports a stylus, albeit no pen is included in the box.
Even so, with a peak brightness of 250 nits, this is a screen whose brightness will be low in bright environments, and you’ll probably wish it could get a little brighter. We also noticed a tiny fade in brightness at the screen’s upper edge, which is a sign of a poor display.
The Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 comes with a good keyboard. While the keys have a low profile and don’t have a lot of travel.
This laptop comes with a large keyboard and trackpad, however the former is superior than the latter.
The trackpad is more of a problem, especially for users who like to click rather than tap. About halfway up the trackpad, the click mechanism becomes stiff and wobbles somewhat under your finger before you click all the way down. While the touchpad is relatively smooth, it still has a little more roughness than on higher-end laptops.
The 720p webcam on the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 is standard for most Windows laptops. In well-lit rooms, it’s fine for videoconferencing, but in dim light, it produces fuzzy footage. The quality of the microphone is also poor, resulting in thin-sounding vocals.
The Inspiron 14 2-in-1 features a 54,000 Whr battery and is placed in the center of the pack. In terms of battery life, Dell’s laptop lasted for 11 hours and 17 minutes, which is quite good.
4) Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 14″ Touch Screen Laptop Under $1000
- Windows 10 Home, 15.6" inch FHD (1920x1080) IPS 400nits Glossy Touch...
- Intel 11th Generation Core i5-1135G7, Intel Iris Xe Graphics
- 8GB DDR4 3200MHz (soldered), 256GB Solid State Drive
- 1x USB 3.2 Type A, 1x USB Type C Charging Ports, 2x Thunderbolt Ports...
This convertible laptop adds another level of power to our list. There are numerous specifications and features to discuss. Let’s start with the processor of Lenovo Yoga. The laptop is equipped with the 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7. The CPU uses Intel Hyper-Threading technology to greatly improve performance in all aspects, making it one of the best laptops on the market.
The Lenovo Yoga 7i is a great laptop to consider if you’re searching for a machine to multitask and get work done in landscape mode. It’s powerful and has a wonderful screen, but I wouldn’t suggest it as a laptop for folks who play loads of games. But if you want one of the finest 2 in 1 laptop under 1000 dollars to multitask and work on the move, then this Lenovo Yoga 7i is a fantastic pick.
A 15.6-inch laptop can be turned into a tablet at the push of a button. The Yoga 7i is just as cleverly designed as it is slim and portable. Its broad and big screen makes it excellent for viewing films, playing games, or working on photos with precise tools. The bright Full HD IPS display boasts superb visual quality and good viewing angles, too. This is the best-case scenario, as the display has a high resolution, resulting in little to no blurring and good image clarity. The IPS panel provides the greatest color accuracy and a wide viewing angle.
The Laptop’s fast Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor is great for multitasking and provides you ample processing capacity to browse the web, check your emails and videos, edit images, and more. And with 8 gigabytes of RAM, you can run a lot of programs at once. Its 256 GB SSD storage drive guarantees that you have tons of room to save movies, music, and documents. The SSD enables fast file transfers and boot speeds of under 20 seconds.
Lenovo Yoga’s battery life is pretty exceptional as well. On a full charge, it can last up to 8 hours, which is ideal for long journeys or simply working for a long period of time without needing to recharge.
The Lenovo Yoga 7i provides a wonderful sound experience through its two loudspeakers. I would say that of all the $1000 2 in 1s we tested, this one provided one of the best sounds.
Overall, this is our second-best two-in-one laptop for under $1000. With its outstanding specifications, lots of RAM, and stunning display, it’s ideal for any task. Anyone looking for a good all-around laptop should consider this laptop.
